What is the Procedure for Applying for Permanent Residence in Canada?

1 Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)

To prove that their foreign education is comparable to that of Canadians, an applicant must obtain an Educational Credential Assessment or ECA.

2 Report on Language Proficiency

A linguistic expertise report with an IELTS score is required for the candidate. This shows if the applicant's English abilities are at the Canadian Government Benchmark Level (CLB) 7 or not.


3 Submit an application for Express Entry

After obtaining both papers, the candidate can build an online profile in the Express Entry System.


4 Calculate the CRS Score

After completing the application form, the candidate is given a score that acts as a cut-off for evaluating applications. You can apply for a Canada PR visa if you have the qualifying CRS score.


5 Draw for the Express Entry

The applicant must then wait for the Express Entry Pool draw, which takes place at regular intervals. Candidates who are over a certain rank are invited to apply for PR.


6 Invitation to Apply (ITA)

If your rank is higher than the minimum, you will be sent an Invitation To Apply (ITA). You have 60 days after getting it to apply for PR.


7 Submitting the Final PR Application

You can now submit your final PR application together with the necessary papers. The bulk of these applications should be processed within six months, according to the authorities. You will receive your PR authorization once you are authorised.
